Released in August 2007, this collection of stories about how women navigate, resist, and transform power is the product of a unique write shop process organized by Just Associates for ActionAid International, engaging long-time women’s rights activists in reflection, creative writing and sharing stories. While there is much to celebrate in terms of the work activist have done and gains for womenās rights, there are still difficult realities and challenges that must be addressed. Inequality is on the increase in many countries, violence against women continues to be pervasive, and various forms of fundamentalisms are on the rise. As we dissect our strategies and steps forward we must also dissect power and the need to re-politicise change efforts, to better understand how power operates and methods for building collective power for greater influence. Stories from this book share examples from women as they navigate the complexities of power and move forward to transform it.
