This knowledge product is an outcome of five years of JASS Southern Africa work, including feminist movement building processes in South Africa, Malawi and Zimbabwe; feminist participatory action research in Malawi and Zimbabwe; and cross movement/issue/border dialogues. This work has given way to the conceptualisationĀ of ā€˜structural violenceā€™, which has helped reframeĀ JASS Southern Africaā€™s organising and may be useful to other activists and movements.

This book is meant to contribute to our efforts to the question of why, despite years of deep struggle against wide-spread gendered injustices, including gender-based violence (GBV), these conditions persist.
