At JASS, the social transformation we seek depends on bold and sustained movement organizing – centered on what women know and want, a sharp analysis of power and context, and a collective vision for justice and liberation.

This year, sustaining this sharp analysis to inform strategy and action has been a heavy burden to carry. Social justice actors everywhere are navigating difficult times as the things we hold most dear, including our rights, our bodies, our lands and our freedoms, are under threat.

There are 114 armed conflicts across the world, some of them genocidal in nature. In the United States, recent elections are pointing to the dismantling of democracy with direct implications for global climate action and the everyday realities of women and historically marginalized communities worldwide. This is a nightmarish time and  it is also an extraordinary time full of vital, transformative organising  that could not have been foreseen.  Full engagement requires the ability to perceive both. We must remind ourselves of the extraordinary power we carry because now is the time to act, not despair.

JASS will continue to create movement spaces, build community, and the collective  organising power necessary for justice, equity, and freedom.

Join us, let us light the flame of tomorrow, today!
