Sangeeta Chowdhry has worked on issues of gender equity and economic and environmental justice for over 15 years. She currently serves as the Senior Program Director for Economic and Climate Justice at Global Fund for Women. In this role, she leads strategic grantmaking and movement strengthening for global programs on worker rights – particularly domestic workers and garment workers – and climate justice. Prior to this role, she led the strategic planning and grantmaking in support of grassroots women’s movements in the Asia Pacific region addressing gender-based violence, economic and political empowerment and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Prior to joining Global Fund for Women, Sangeeta worked on developing innovative solutions to improving access to decent work, safe water and sanitation. She has worked as a consultant with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle, Acumen Fund and American India Foundation in New York and CARE in India.
Sangeeta holds three Masters degrees – the most recent one a Masters in Public Administration (Program in Economic Policy Management) from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
