Avela Njwambe

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning and Grants Coordinator
South Africa

Avela is the cross-regional monitoring, evaluation and learning coordinator. She facilitates and coordinates the implementation of Impact Mapper, but also plays a role in grant management and support our MEL contribution to CMI! (Count Me In!).

Avela joins JASS with rich research experience, as an anthropologist and previously working as a research officer for the South African Social Policy Research Institute and the National Planning Commission (a custodian of the National Development Plan). Avela also brings her Citizen Based Monitoring experience, working for the South African government to compliment her current role as a feminist Monitoring, Evaluations and Learning coordinator.

Avela likes to use her free time to bond with her daughter and have relax with a glass of wine listening to romantic ballads. As a passionate agent of change, Avela is committed to build a socially just world, where women’s agencies are restored and are treated with equity and respect.
