Thursday, September 5, 2013. From September 6-8, the Mesoamerican Women Human Rights Defenders Initiative (IM-Defensoras) hosted the 2nd Regional Gathering of WHRD in Mesoamerica with the participation of more than 160 women defenders from Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Canada, Colombia and others.

Over 145 international, regional and local organizations from 10 countries have signed a letter addressed to the heads of state of 9 countries in the Americas, - who will participate in the Summit of the Central American Integration System (SICA) - highlighting civil society concerns about security policies, human rights, violence against men and women human rights defenders, and other important subjects.

National Women Human Rights Defenders Network in Mexico
On the 25thand 26th of January, the National Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRD) Network convened a meeting of more than 60 indigenous, rural and mestiza WHRD.  Dedicated to the defense and promotion of the human rights of women, they gathered from diverse regions of the country for the Third National Meeting of Women Human Rights Defenders in Mexico.
