Southeast Asia Regional Co-Coordinator

JASS Southeast is the regional anchor and network of JASS, an international women’s rights organization dedicated to strengthening the voice, visibility and collective power of women for justice. We are looking for an experienced Regional Co-Coordinator to co-lead our movement-building strategy in the region. This is a great opportunity for a Southeast Asian feminist with leadership experience and knowledge of regional women’s rights networks and political processes to step in at an exciting moment to continue building and shaping JASS Southeast Asia’s programs and influence.


The Regional Co-Coordinator for JASS Southeast Asia is a senior position in JASS that is responsible for working alongside the Co-Coordinator to provide overall direction for JASS SEA in line with JASS’ global strategy and movement-building framework, principles and programs. The ideal candidate would combine experience working with diverse networks and building regional women’s rights/justice alliances, knowledge about regional political dynamics, feminism, women’s rights and women’s movements. We are looking for an effective communicator, manager, and bridge-builder who can comfortably work with a full range of people from grassroots activists – JASS’ core constituency – to donors, policy advocates, NGO leaders, and academics. Communication skills in at least one of the region’s languages, and strong writing skills in English required.

Roles & Responsibilities

In close partnership with the Co-coordinator, and working closely with the JASS Southeast Asia team and members of the JASS global team, you will: 

  • Engage, strengthen and expand JASS SEA’s regional network focused on solidarity and information-sharing; development of a regional strategy and program that responds to and actively engages the emerging country programs and allies
  • In line with above,identify and pursue strategic opportunities to deepen and broaden the impact of the JASS SEA movement-building process, including outreach and communication with media, government, influential NGOs, academics, etc
  • Coordinate JASS SEA Advisory team with the co-coordinator, ensuring their active engagement and support for strategy development, fundraising, facilitation and knowledge production
  • Lead on JASS’ support for activists and organizations in our Philippines network including activating regional and global solidary, resources and other efforts in response to urgent cases; engaging the network in opportunities and alliance-building at regional level
  • Lead on knowledge production and promotion in the region (in line with global knowledge strategy and efforts) including conceptualizing, writing, editing analysis, stories, case studies and other publications designed to influence thinking on movement-building and protection; engage with knowledge staff across JASS in these efforts
  • Oversight of JASS SEA of development and implementation of communications strategy aligned with JASS global communications strategy to expand the reach and influence of our social media platforms, publications, and other communications efforts with key audiences; supervise and work closely with Knowledge and Communications Associate in support of these activities
  • Lead on regional fundraising strategy and efforts to expand funding support for JASS’ work and the work of our partners including mapping funding opportunities, conceptualizing and writing proposals, cultivating and pitching donors, working with the cross-regional fundraising team to leverage global funding opportunities including serving as a member of JASS global fundraising team
  • Responsible for ensuring the team’s timely submission of donor reports and deliverables to regional and country level donors and input on reports to global/core donors; co-responsibility for monitoring, evaluation and learning activities including engagement and input in global MEL processes and contributing to and reviewing regional monthly MEL report

  • Strong ability to write and edit knowledge products grounded in a feminist and movement-building perspective
  •  Ability to work in a small, agile, fast-paced, and very collaborative team guided by principles of mutual accountability and respect and a willingness of each team member to support whatever the work requires 
  • Proven ability to operate in a virtual, regional or global organisation where prompt and responsive e-mail and phone communication is paramount;
  • Sense of humour
