Program Assistant

We're hiring a cross-regional Program Assistant!

JASS is seeking an energetic, creative, and motivated person to support key areas of our work including operations, communications and fundraising, and programs. The Program Assistant will report to the Director of Resource Mobilization and work closely with members of our team in our Washington, DC office, as well as virtually with our wider teams in Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, Mesoamerica, and beyond. This is great opportunity to contribute your special powers to helping us stay on top of things, while picking up new skills in fundraising, communications, program management, monitoring and evaluation, and more! Since you’ll be involved in a wide range of projects and tasks, it’s a way for you, in the early stages of your career, to figure out where your skills and interests lie and then take initiative to make it happen.

Key responsibilities:

Programmatic support

  • Provide logistical support for events and activities, including making travel and accommodation arrangements, maintaining participant lists, drafting budgets, corresponding with participants, and liaising with vendors
  • Maintain organizational calendars, schedule calls and meetings (coordinating across multiple time zones), and managing virtual communications accounts (i.e. Gmail, Zoom, Wire, etc)
  • Support during meetings and take notes when needed
  • General office support, including answering phones, responding to or directing requests, maintaining office files and supplies, and completing expense and credit reports  
  • Managing vendor relationships, as necessary

Fundraising and communications support

  • Support the management of CRM database (Bloomerang), including adding new entries, preparing donor reports and contact lists, maintaining robust data, performing regular data maintenance and cleaning, and tracking donor communications
  • Assist with external communications, including social media, eblasts, physical mail, and promotion for JASS publications and events
  • Assist with individual donor mailings, including promotional materials and appeals
  • Research and provide summaries of funding opportunities and prospects
  • Support transition to and maintenance of new JASS website


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Demonstrated experience and/or interest in our mission and in women’s rights and social justice
  • Solid logistics skills; experience coordinating events a plus
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work on multiple priorities with colleagues from various regions and time zones
  • Willingness to take initiative and comfort sharing your own ideas for how to get things done
  • CRM experience or confidence to learn a new skill
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google drive
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Basic graphic design and website content management (Wordpress or Drupal) skills, a plus
  • Spanish proficiency ideal, but not required
