JASS is an international organization that supports and strengthens grassroots women’s activist leadership in three regions of the world: Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, and Mesoamerica. We are seeking an energetic, creative, and motivated person to support key areas of our program and fundraising work. The Program and Development Assistant will report to the Resource Mobilization Director and work closely with the Program Director.  The post is virtual (in this time of social distancing) working with members of our team in Washington, DC and New York City as well as with our wider global teams. This is great opportunity to contribute your special powers to supporting amazing work for social justice, while gaining new skills.

Key responsibilities:

Programmatic support

  • Provide logistical support for virtual events and activities including sending invites, maintaining participant lists, corresponding with participants, and liaising with vendors
  • Maintain organizational calendars, schedule calls and meetings (coordinating across multiple time zones), and managing virtual communications tools (i.e. Zoom, Wire, etc)
  • Support during meetings and take notes when needed
  • General support including maintaining files on Share Point and completing expensive and credit reports  
  • Liaise with IT support, translators, etc.

Fundraising and communications support

  • Support the management of donor database, including adding new entries, and tracking donor communications.
  • Support individual donor fundraising appeals (eblasts and mailings)
  • Support grants management, including updating the grants schedule


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Demonstrated experience and/or interest in our mission and in women’s rights and social justice
  • Solid logistics skills; experience coordinating events a plus
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work on multiple priorities with colleagues from various regions and time zones
  • Willingness to take initiative and comfort sharing your own ideas for how to get things done
  • CRM experience or willingness to learn a new skill
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic graphic design and website content management (WordPress or Drupal) skills, a plus
  • Spanish proficiency ideal, but not required
