The Nobel Women’s Initiative, in partnership with JASS and the Rigoberta Menchú Tum Foundation, hosted “Women Redefining Democracy for Peace, Justice and Equality,” May 10-12, 2009, in Antigua, Guatemala. Women from around the world examined the challenges of democratization and reshaping democracy. More than 100 women, including four Nobel Laureates, gathered to examine critically women’s experiences and engagement with democracy in different contexts. JASS had a delegation of more than twenty women at the Nobel Women’s Initiative conference entitled “Women Redefining Democracy for Peace, Justice and Equality.” The JASS community proudly played key roles that contributed to the success of the conference. Reporting on the conference is available on the JASS blog, JASS Facebook, NWI’s website, and Open Democracy.
