November 25 marked the 30th anniversary and launch of this yearā€™s #16DaysofActivism campaign!

#CrossTheLine with JASS this #16daysofActivism2021!

On November 25, we kicked off the 30th anniversary and celebration of the #16DaysofActivism campaign! This yearā€™s theme, ā€œOrange the world: End violence against women (VAW) now!ā€ aims to mobilize diverse organizations, networks, and movements to advocate for long-term strategies to end VAW, promote the leadership of women and girls, amplify successful VAW interventions, and hold policymakers accountable to the bold commitments agreed to at the Generation Equality Forum.

Drawing on this theme, JASS will spotlight women-led initiatives from the regions we work where women activists are crossing the line to create a more just world, free from violence. For the next 14 days, follow our social media to read, learn, and be inspired by the powerful organizing women are leading to defend land and life, develop economic alternatives for long-term survival, center collective care and wellbeing, and more! Below are some key events you can be part of.

Guardians of the Earth, Sowers of Hope

In 2021, we saw some progress towards justice as one the co-authors behind the murder of renowned Honduras indigenous leader, Berta CƔceres was found guilty. The paths to justice are still long and myriad for land defenders who face harassment and violence every day for their activism against extractives.

JASS Mesoamericaā€™s theme, ‘Guardians of the Earth, Sowers of Hopeā€™ will spotlight the resistance and organizing strategies of women land and territory defenders from JASSā€™ Alquimia feminist movement builder schools, launch an Art Contest (Convocatoria de Arte), and a new video on strategic feminist leadership.
